Business Issues Advisory Committee

The Business Issues Advisory Committee reviews policy recommendations created within the Partnership. Business Issues committee members are typically among the most senior executives within their organizations, many with strategic and financial backgrounds. The committee considers competitive issues, proposals with tax consequences, municipal finance and bond referenda.

Education Advisory Committee

Educational attainment and workforce readiness create a thriving economy. The committee has been a leading advocate for high-quality pre-kindergarten (pre-K) and was instrumental in the passage of HB4 in 2015. HB 4 is the pre-k investment bill, which secured an additional $118 million in funding for pre-K in Texas. The committee continues its focus on protecting Houston’s pre-K investments.

Energy Advisory Committee

Representing the Energy Capital of the World, the Energy Advisory Committee engages leadership at the local, state and federal levels to ensure development and implementation of sound energy policy that promotes economic growth and job creation. In the past, the committee focused on a regional advocacy campaign to lift the federal ban on crude oil exports, which resulted in legislation repealing the ban by the end of 2015. The committee continues to drive energy policy discussions in our region.

Environmental Advisory Committee

Government Relations Advisory Committee (GRAC)

GRAC is a select committee populated by government affairs and external affairs professionals from across various sectors of Houston’s dynamic economy. The committee welcomes law makers from the local, state and federal level. Access to key decisions makers is a key component of this committee.

Health Care Advisory Committee

The Texas Medical Center is the world’s largest medical complex and significantly contributes to the region’s economic success. The Health Care Advisory Committee advocates for local, state and federal policies that address the region’s health care challenges.

Quality of Place Advisory Committee

The Partnership’s Quality of Place Committee focuses on efforts to showcase and advance the under-appreciated aspects of living in Houston including access to green space, vibrant cultural offerings and a thriving local business community.

Transportation Advisory Committee

The Transportation Advisory Committee advocates for local, state and federal policies and regulations that expand and maintain our region’s mobility infrastructure. The committee works to ensure that Houston receives its fair share of state transportation funding and advocates for improved commercial transportation corridors in Houston
